Schafferer was established in 1958 as a frame carpentry company. Just six years later, the company founder Karl Schafferer died in an accident at work. For the following seven years his widow Dorothea Schafferer - mother of four - managed the company. From 1971 she expanded the company with her second husband Franz Pfurtscheller. In 1988 the current managing director, Karl Schafferer, took over the company.

Schafferer invests most of its profits in the continuing development of its staff as well as in the extension and further modernisation of its machinery. Schafferer Holzbau GesmbH offers a challenging and secure workplace for 30 employees.

Schafferer is a member of the htt15 co-operative and IG Passivhaus.
